Thirty Years Of Rockwall Roofs, One Neighbor At A Time

Bacon Roofing has installed, repaired, and replaced residential roofs across Rockwall since 1995. Not a storm-chasing crew that shows up after the hail and disappears before the warranty matters. We live here, the office is across the bridge in Rowlett, and most of our work still comes from a neighbor pointing down the street.

That matters more than it sounds. Knowing Rockwall means knowing which subdivisions took the worst of the April hail, which shingle products actually hold up to Texas heat, and what the local code requires when the decking underneath turns out to be worse than anyone expected.

Every job starts the same way: a free inspection, photographs of whatever we find, and a straight answer about whether you are looking at a repair or a replacement. If your roof has years left in it, we will say so.

Where roofs actually fail

Most Leaks Do Not Start Where You Think

Homeowners expect a leak to come from a hole in the middle of the roof. It almost never does. It starts at a penetration, one of the places where a pipe, a vent, or a chimney comes through the deck, and it starts because the metal around it was cut short or sealed with caulk instead of built correctly.

  • Penetrations. Pipe boots, vents, and chimneys. This is where most non-storm leaks begin, and it is the first place we look.
  • Flashing and counter flashing. Flashing comes up off the deck, counter flashing comes out of the wall and laps over it. Done right, you get a waterfall effect and water sheds down the layers. Done wrong, water likes to loop under and travel.
  • Backed-out fasteners. All fasteners move, because all houses in North Texas move, because of our soil. A nail that has worked its way up is a hole waiting for the next storm.
  • Hail bruising you cannot see. From the driveway it looks fine. Up close you are feeling for soft spots in the mat and looking for granules washed into the gutters.
  • Ceiling stains and attic daylight. By the time it shows on the sheetrock, the water has usually been travelling for a while.
How the job runs

A New Roof, Without The Runaround

Roofing should be predictable. Here is exactly how a Bacon Roofing residential job goes, from the first phone call to the last magnet sweep of your driveway.

1

Free Inspection

We get on the roof, photograph what we find, and tell you honestly whether you need a repair or a replacement.

2

Written Estimate

A clear, itemized estimate with your material and color options. The price holds unless we uncover hidden damage under the old roof.

3

Scheduling & Materials

We set a date, order materials, and tell you exactly what to expect in your driveway on install day.

4

Tear-Off & Install

Old roof off, decking checked and replaced where it is rotted, new system on. Most Rockwall homes are finished in one to two days.

5

Cleanup & Walkthrough

We magnet-sweep the yard, walk the job with you, and register your warranties. We leave the driveway cleaner than we found it.

Repair Or Replace? Here Is The Honest Test

There is no universal answer, and anyone who gives you one over the phone has not looked at your roof. These are the three things we weigh on every inspection.

A repair usually holds when…

  • The roof is under about 15 years old and the shingles still have life in the mat.
  • The damage is in one area: a wind-lifted section, a failed pipe boot, one bad valley.
  • Leaks show up in the same place, which usually points at one detail done wrong.
  • The decking underneath is sound when we lift a few shingles to check.
Most single-area repairs are done in one visit.

A replacement is the smarter spend when…

  • Hail or wind damage is spread across multiple slopes rather than one patch.
  • New leaks keep appearing in new places, which means the system is failing, not one detail.
  • The roof is at or past the end of its rated life and repairs are stacking up.
  • We find rotted decking, which changes the math on any patch job.
Most Rockwall replacements finish in one to two days.

Not sure which one you are looking at? That is what the free inspection is for. If a targeted repair will hold, we will tell you that, and we will not try to talk you into a roof you do not need.

Water coming in right now?

Do not wait for the next storm to make it worse. We tarp it, dry it in, and get the permanent repair on the schedule.

After the hail

We Navigate The Claim Process With You

Hail is the number one reason Rockwall homeowners call a roofer. Here is what we actually do, and just as importantly, what we do not do. We are roofers, not adjusters and not attorneys. We talk about the scope of work on your roof, never about your policy.

  • A free inspection, documented. We photograph the bruising, the wind lift, and the flashing, and we pin down the date of loss while it is still fresh.
  • Make us your contractor of record. That means we are the point of contact with your adjuster instead of you sorting it out on your own, and we meet them on the roof.
  • We talk scope of work, not policy. We bring up code and the manufacturer’s instructions to make the case for the correct repair, and we file a supplement when the scope leaves something out.
  • Straight expectations. If there is not enough damage to stand behind a claim, we will tell you that.

What We Install On Rockwall Homes

We help you match the material to your house, your budget, and how long you actually plan to stay. That last one changes the answer more than most homeowners expect.

Asphalt Shingles

The default for Rockwall homes, and what most insurance scopes are written around. As a Certified GAF installer we can put a 10-year Systems Plus warranty behind the material.

Standing Seam Metal

Longer life, a modern look, and far fewer fasteners exposed to the weather. Worth the conversation if you plan to be in the house a long time.

TPO & Roof Coatings

For the low-slope sections a lot of homes have over a porch, an addition, or a flat patio cover, where shingles were never the right answer.

What You Are Covered By

10-Year GAF Systems Plus

Manufacturer-backed on the materials. Transferable once, at no fee, which matters if you sell.

10-Year Workmanship Warranty

Ours. It covers how the roof was installed, which is the part most warranties quietly leave out.

A Price That Holds

The written estimate stands unless we uncover hidden damage once the old roof is off.

Common questions

Residential Roofing FAQs

You get a clear, written estimate up front. Unless we uncover hidden damage once the old roof is off, usually rotted decking, that price does not change. If we do find something, we show you the photo before we touch it.

Three things: the age of the roof, whether the damage is in one area or spread across several slopes, and whether leaks keep showing up somewhere new. A roof under fifteen years old with damage in one spot is usually a repair. Widespread damage or recurring leaks on an older roof usually points to replacement. The free inspection gives you the honest call.

Most Rockwall homes are finished in one to two days. Larger or more complex roofs, or ones where we find decking that needs replacing, can take longer. We tell you which one you are before we start.

We help you navigate the process. Make us your contractor of record and we become the point of contact with your adjuster, meet them on the roof, and document the damage with dated photos. We discuss the scope of work and what code and the manufacturer’s instructions require. We are roofers, not adjusters or attorneys, so we do not advise on your policy.

Two. A 10-year GAF Systems Plus warranty on the materials, which is manufacturer-backed and transferable once at no fee, and a 10-year workmanship warranty from us covering how the roof was installed.

Asphalt shingles, standing seam metal, and TPO or roof coatings for low-slope sections. We are a Certified GAF installer, so most shingle roofs go on as a GAF system.

Yes, and there is no obligation attached. We check shingles, flashing, valleys, penetrations, vents, gutters, and attic ventilation, then tell you plainly what we found. If your roof is fine, that is what we will say.
