About
Bacon Roofing
Thirty years on North Texas roofs, most of it earned one neighbour at a time. This is who we are, who runs it, and why people keep sending us down the street.
It Started In 1995, And It Never Left
John Bacon started this company in 1995, working out of Dallas. Not long after, he moved the focus east to what was then the up-and-coming area of Rockwall, which turned out to be a good call and a permanent one. The office sits across the bridge in Rowlett, and thirty years later we are still working the same stretch of North Texas.
Staying in one market that long changes how you run a business. When your customers are your neighbours, and their neighbours are your next job, you cannot afford a roof that fails in year three. So most of what we do comes back to the same idea: do the work properly, explain it honestly, and be around when somebody calls.
Our mission is not complicated, and it has not changed: honest service, craftsmanship that holds up, and peace of mind that lasts well beyond the final nail. Family-owned and operated the whole way through.

Why Rockwall Homeowners Keep Calling Us Back
Every roofer says they are honest and does good work. Here is what that actually means in practice at Bacon Roofing, so you can hold us to it.
- Thirty years in one market. Since 1995, in the same stretch of North Texas. That is a credential a new competitor cannot copy, and it is why we can afford to tell a homeowner their roof is fine.
- We explain the why, not just the price. Why water loops under a shingle, what counter flashing actually does, why North Texas soil movement backs your nails out. You should understand your roof before you spend money on it.
- Free inspections, zero pressure. No charge, no obligation, and no salesman in your kitchen. Plenty of our inspections end with us saying the roof is fine and leaving.
- Clear, written estimates. Itemised up front, and the price holds unless we uncover hidden damage underneath. If we find something, you see the photo before we touch it.
- Certified GAF installer. Roofs go on to the manufacturer’s instructions, not to whatever is quickest, which is the part that keeps a warranty valid. Ten-year GAF Systems Plus on the materials plus a ten-year workmanship warranty from us.
- Referrals, not billboards. Most of our work still comes from a neighbour pointing down the street. That only keeps happening if the roofs hold up.
John Bacon
John has led Bacon Roofing since he started it in 1995. If you book an inspection there is a fair chance he is the one who turns up, and if you have seen the truck with the pig on it around Rockwall or Rowlett, you have already met the company.
Thirty years in one trade, in one market, does something to how a person talks about it. Ask John about a leak and you will get the mechanism: why water likes to loop under a shingle, what counter flashing is actually for, why every fastener in North Texas moves because every house in North Texas moves, because of our soil. He would rather teach you what went wrong than sell you something.
That instinct runs through the whole company. It is why the inspections are free and genuinely no-pressure, why the estimates are written and itemised, and why a homeowner sometimes gets told their roof has years left in it and no work is needed. Integrity over the sale is easy to put on a website. It is harder when you are standing in somebody’s driveway with the invoice unwritten.
Family-owned and operated since day one, and still answering to the neighbours.

What You Get, And What You Will Not Get
Hiring a roofer is mostly a question of what the experience will feel like. Here is ours, including the parts we deliberately do not do.
What you get…
- Somebody who actually gets on the roof, rather than judging it from the driveway.
- Dated photographs of whatever we find, so you see what we saw.
- A written, itemised estimate, and a price that holds unless we uncover hidden damage.
- A plain-English explanation of what failed and why, before anybody talks about money.
What you will not get…
- A salesman sitting in your kitchen waiting for a signature tonight.
- A price that only exists today, or a discount that expires while we are standing there.
- Pressure to replace a roof that has years left in it.
- A bead of caulk over a detail that should have been built in metal. That is not a roofing system, that is just hope.
None of this is complicated. It is just what thirty years of having to face your customers at the grocery store does to a business.

Everything Is Better With Bacon
Roofus is our hard-hat pig, and he is on the trucks, the yard signs and the shirts. He exists because a roof is a serious, expensive, slightly stressful purchase, and there is no reason the company selling it has to be joyless about it. He gets people to remember the name. The work is what earns the signature.
- Family-owned. Led by John Bacon since 1995. We answer to our neighbours, and we treat you like family.
- Honest. Clear, written estimates. Free inspections, zero pressure. No surprise line items.
- Local. Rockwall, Rowlett, and the whole DFW area. Real crews who know Texas weather and Texas soil.
- Around afterwards. Anybody can put a roof on. The question is who picks up the phone in 2030.
Everything We Do
Roofing is the trade. These come with it.
Thirty Years, One Market, A Lot Of Roofs
The short version, for anybody who would rather not read the long one.
Since 1995
Founded by John Bacon and family-owned ever since. Over thirty years of hands-on experience on North Texas roofs, through a lot of hail seasons.
4.9 Stars, 160+ Reviews
Built almost entirely on referrals rather than advertising. Most of our clients recommend us to their friends and neighbours, which is the only marketing that has ever really worked for us.
Rockwall, Rowlett & DFW
The office is in Rowlett and we work within about an hour of Rockwall. Close enough to be there when something goes wrong, which is the point.
What Backs The Work
10-Year GAF Systems Plus
Manufacturer-backed on the materials. Transferable once, at no fee, which matters if you sell.
10-Year Workmanship Warranty
Ours. It covers how the roof was installed, which is the part most warranties quietly leave out.
A Price That Holds
The written estimate stands unless we uncover hidden damage once the old roof is off.
Rockwall Is Home Base
If you have seen the truck with the pig on it around Rockwall or Rowlett, that is us. Thirty years in one market is a credential a new competitor cannot copy, and it is the whole reason we can afford to tell a homeowner their roof is fine.
We serve homeowners within about an hour of Rockwall, including Rowlett, Heath, Wylie, McLendon-Chisholm, Royse City, Sunnyvale, Garland, Mesquite, Sachse, Forney, and Anna. If you are close and not sure whether we cover your address, call and ask. The answer is usually yes.
What Bacon Roofing Customers Say
Questions About Bacon Roofing
How long has Bacon Roofing been in business?
Since 1995. John Bacon started the company working out of Dallas, then moved the focus east to Rockwall, and it has been family-owned and operated in this market for over thirty years.
Who will I actually be dealing with?
John still runs the company and there is a fair chance he is the one who turns up for your inspection. This is not a franchise and it is not a call centre. The office is across the bridge in Rowlett.
What areas do you serve?
Homeowners and businesses within about an hour of Rockwall, including Rowlett, Heath, Wylie, McLendon-Chisholm, Royse City, Sunnyvale, Garland, Mesquite, Sachse, Forney, and Anna. If you are close and not sure, call and ask. The answer is usually yes.
Do you only do roofing?
Roofing is the trade and it is what we are best at, residential and commercial, repair through full replacement, plus storm damage and maintenance. We also do solar screens and a handful of related exterior jobs around it.
Are inspections really free?
Yes, and there is no obligation attached. Free inspections, zero pressure is how we work rather than a promotion. Plenty of our inspections end with us telling a homeowner their roof is fine and leaving.
What warranties do you offer?
On a new shingle roof, two. A 10-year GAF Systems Plus warranty on the materials, which is manufacturer-backed and transferable once at no fee, and a 10-year workmanship warranty from us covering how the roof was installed.
Do you help with insurance claims?
We help you navigate the process. Make us your contractor of record and we become the point of contact with your adjuster, meet them on the roof, and document the damage with dated photos. We discuss the scope of work and what code and the manufacturer’s instructions require. We are roofers, not adjusters or attorneys, so we do not advise on your policy.
Let’s Take A Look At Your Roof
Thirty years of doing this has not changed the first step. Tell us what is going on, we come out, we get on the roof, and you get an honest answer and a written estimate. No charge and no pressure. If water is coming in right now, call instead.
