We Work Both Sides Of Lake Ray Hubbard
Heath runs along the eastern shore of Lake Ray Hubbard, with Rockwall to the north and Forney to the south. Our office sits on the Rowlett side of the same lake, and Rockwall County has been our market since 1995. When a storm crosses that water it usually crosses both of us, and we tend to hear about it the same afternoon.
Heath is not built like most Dallas suburbs, and that is deliberate. Every comprehensive plan the city has adopted since 1996 has aimed for no more than one home per acre of developable land, and the 2025 update calls the idea Rural by Design. The population went from about 6,900 in 2010 to roughly 9,800 in 2020, but the town grew outward rather than tighter. What you get is large custom houses on generous lots, golf course streets around Buffalo Creek, deed-restricted enclaves by the lake, and a few older homesteads that were here before any of it.
Roofs like these reward patience. Every job starts with a free inspection, photographs of what we see, and a plain answer about repair or replacement. If the roof is sound, you will hear that from us first.

What Heath Roofs Have To Handle
A lake on one side, open land on the other, and houses designed to impress rather than to be easy to roof. None of that is a problem, but it does change what we look for. These are the issues that come up most often in Heath.
- Wind off the water. Lake Ray Hubbard covers roughly 22,000 acres, and a gust crossing it meets nothing until the first row of houses on the Heath shore. Shingle edges, ridge caps and the downwind side of hips take that load, and lifted tabs are often the first thing we find.
- Custom plans, complicated roofs. Steep pitches, intersecting hips, turrets, walls rising out of the roof and long valleys. On a custom design every transition was framed once, by hand, and every one needs flashing that was detailed properly rather than improvised on the day.
- Materials beyond the standard shingle. Larger custom homes are more likely to wear tile, slate or metal. Those systems last a long time when they go on right, but a repair needs matching material and a crew that knows how to work without cracking the piece next door.
- Trees on the big lots. Room for mature trees means limbs hanging over the roof, leaves packed into valleys and gutters, and shade that keeps some slopes damp for longer. Branches that brush the surface also grind granules off every time the wind picks up.
- Hail that hides. Rockwall County sits in North Texas hail country. A hailstone rarely leaves a hole; it cracks the mat under the granules, and the shingle goes on looking normal until it starts letting water through a season or two later.
- Gates, drives and landscaping. Long driveways, pool decks, stone patios and irrigated beds all need protecting during a tear-off. We plan where the dumpster sits, what gets tarped and how materials get onto the roof before anyone shows up with a truck.
How A Heath Roof Job Runs
No mystery and no surprises. This is the order things happen in on a Heath job, whether it is one lifted ridge cap or a full tear-off on a custom home.
Free Inspection
We climb up, photograph every slope that matters, and tell you straight whether it calls for a repair or a replacement.
Written Estimate
Itemized and in writing, with material and colour choices laid out. That number holds unless hidden damage turns up once the old roof is off.
Planning The Site
We agree a start date, order materials, and walk the property with you to decide where the dumpster goes and what needs covering, from the pool to the flower beds.
Tear-Off & Install
The old roof comes off down to the deck, soft decking is replaced, and the new system goes on with fresh flashing at every wall and chimney. Most homes take a day or two; a large custom roof can take longer, and we say so up front.
Cleanup & Walkthrough
Magnets go over the driveway, the lawn and the pool deck for stray nails. Then we walk the finished roof with you, answer your questions, and register your warranties before we leave.
On The Water, Or Further Back?
Heath homes tend to fall into two settings, and the setting changes what wears out first. Tell us which one you are in and we already have a good idea where to start.
If your back windows face the lake…
- Wind is the main enemy. We check the windward edges, the ridge caps and any lifted tabs before anything else.
- Big glass walls facing the view usually mean tall gables and complicated wall flashing above them, and those joints deserve a hard look.
- Exposed lots make gutters and downspouts work harder in sideways rain, and overflow shows up as staining on the soffit and fascia.
- Damage is often concentrated on one face of the roof, which frequently makes it a repair rather than a whole new roof.
If you are on acreage further inland…
- Trees are the bigger factor. Limbs over the roof, leaves building up in valleys, and shade that slows drying.
- Older homesteads may have more than one layer of shingles, which changes how a tear-off is planned.
- Barns, shops and covered porches often have low-slope sections that never should have been shingled.
- When patches keep piling up on a roof near the end of its life, replacing it is usually the cheaper answer.
Whichever describes your place, the free inspection is what decides it. If a repair will do the job properly, that is what we will recommend, and we will not dress it up as something bigger.
Had a windy week on the lake lately?
We will come and look for free, tell you exactly what we find, and leave the decision with you.
We Help You Through The Claim
Hail and wind are the usual reasons Heath homeowners end up talking to their insurer, and a big custom roof gives an adjuster a lot of surface to get through. Here is where we fit. We help you navigate the process; we do not take it over. We are roofers, not adjusters and not attorneys, and we discuss scope of work, never your policy.
- Photographs with dates on them. We document bruised shingles, lifted edges, dented metals and damaged flashing, and note the likely date of loss while it is still easy to establish.
- Contractor of record. If you choose to name us, we become the adjuster's point of contact for the roof and meet them up there, so you are not trying to judge a ridge cap from the patio.
- Scope of work, backed by code. We point to code and the manufacturer's instructions to support the correct repair, and we submit a supplement if the approved scope missed something.
- An honest read. If the damage is not there, we say so before you spend time on a claim.

Heath's Local Roofing Team
The truck with the pig on it is a familiar sight on both sides of Lake Ray Hubbard. We have been roofing in and around Rockwall since 1995, and staying in one place that long only works if people trust you to tell them when nothing needs doing.
Our office is on Lakeview Parkway in Rowlett, a short trip over the lake from Heath. From there we also cover Rockwall, McLendon-Chisholm, Forney, Fate and the rest of the county. Not sure your street is in range? Give us a ring and ask.
What Our Customers Tell Us
John Bacon from Bacon Roofing was such a pleasure to work with. Very professional and no pressure. The crew was on time and did a beautiful job. Bacon Roofing does not cut any corners in installing a new roof.
These guys are top notch. In all our years of dealing with various contractors, I was expecting yet another terrible experience, especially with a huge price tag for a new roof. That was not the case with Bacon Roofing.
Our house was hit by a strong hail storm and I needed a new roof. I did not even hesitate to think of anyone else but John Bacon and his company to put my roof on my home.
Heath Roofing FAQs
Is Heath really part of your regular service area?
Yes. Heath borders Rockwall, which has been our home market since 1995, and our Rowlett office is on the opposite shore of the same lake. Heath jobs are routine for us, not a long-distance favour.
We live right on the lake. Does wind really make that much difference?
It does. Open water gives wind a long, uninterrupted run, and nothing slows it down before it reaches the first houses on the shore. That puts extra load on edges, ridges and hips, and repeated gusts can break the seal strip under a shingle without tearing it off. A broken seal looks fine from below, which is why we lift and check tabs on the lake-facing slopes.
Can you work on tile, slate or metal, not just shingles?
Yes. Asphalt shingles are the most common roof we install, but we also work with metal, tile and slate, and custom homes often call for something other than a standard shingle. The inspection tells us what you have, what shape it is in, and whether a repair can match it cleanly.
Our HOA has architectural rules. Does that complicate things?
Not much, as long as it is handled early. Several Heath enclaves are deed restricted with architectural guidelines, and some want to approve roof materials and colours before work starts. We give you the product name, style and colour in writing so you can submit it, and we do not schedule a tear-off until the approval is in hand. It saves some awkward conversations later.
How can I tell if hail got our roof?
Usually you cannot, at least not from the yard. Hail fractures the mat under the granules rather than punching a hole, and the shingle can keep looking normal for a year or two before it starts to fail. Things you can check yourself: piles of granules where the downspouts empty, dents in gutters and vent caps, and dings in the fins of the AC unit. If you spot any of that, book a free inspection.
Will you deal with my insurance company?
We help you navigate the process. If you name us contractor of record, we become the roof contact for your adjuster, meet them on site and provide dated photographs of the damage. Our conversations are about scope of work and what code and the manufacturer’s instructions require. We are roofers, not adjusters or attorneys, so questions about your policy belong with your agent.
Is the inspection free?
Completely. There is no fee and no obligation, and nobody will push you to sign anything on the day. A good number of our inspections finish with us telling the homeowner the roof is fine and heading home.
Which nearby towns do you also cover?
Rockwall, Rowlett, McLendon-Chisholm, Forney, Fate, Royse City, Sunnyvale, Garland, Mesquite, Wylie and Sachse, along with most communities within about an hour of Rockwall.
