We Are Six Miles Up The Road
McLendon-Chisholm sits about six miles southeast of Rockwall, and Rockwall is where we have worked since 1995. That is close enough that we know the roads, the subdivisions, and which storms came through which part of the county. It also means we are not driving in from another state after the hail and gone again by winter.
The town has changed enormously. The population grew by roughly 160 per cent between 2010 and 2020, and it is still going, with Ridge Pointe Estates, Heritage and Meraki adding homes on top of what was, as recently as 2020, a place where almost everybody lived rural. McLendon-Chisholm incorporated back in 1969 precisely to protect that character, and the result today is an unusual mix: new estate homes on one-acre lots sitting alongside properties that have been here for decades.
Both kinds of house need a roofer who will actually get up there. Every job starts the same way: a free inspection, photographs of whatever we find, and a straight answer about whether you are looking at a repair or a replacement. If your roof has years left in it, we will say so.

What McLendon-Chisholm Roofs Are Up Against
A roof out here is not the same job as a roof in a tight Dallas subdivision. The houses are bigger, the lots are open, and a lot of the housing stock is hitting the age where things start to go. These are the patterns we see most.
- Big, cut-up rooflines. Estate plans out here run three to six thousand square feet, with dormers, multiple gables, and long valleys. Every transition is a place a roof can fail, so there is simply more to inspect and more that has to be detailed correctly.
- Open lots take the wind. On an acre with nothing upwind of you, there is no neighbouring roofline breaking the gusts. Wind gets a clean run at the edges and the ridge, which is where lift starts.
- The boom roofs are coming due. A town that grew this fast has a lot of houses built in the same window, which means a lot of roofs reaching fifteen and twenty years at the same time. Builder-grade shingles do not last forever in Texas heat.
- New construction is not automatically right. One of the worst leaks we ever traced was on an eight-year-old house, where a vent flashing had been cut about two inches short and a nail sat in the water’s path. New does not mean detailed properly.
- Rockwall County hail. We are in hail country, and hail does not punch holes. It bruises the mat and strips the granules, so a roof can look perfectly fine from your driveway for two years after the storm that finished it.
- Access and staging. Long drives, gates, septic fields, horse fencing, mature trees. Worth sorting out before a dumpster and a materials truck turn up, which is a conversation we have before the job rather than on the day.
A New Roof, Without The Runaround
Roofing should be predictable. Here is exactly how a Bacon Roofing job runs in McLendon-Chisholm, from the first phone call to the last magnet sweep of the drive.
Free Inspection
We get on the roof, photograph what we find, and tell you honestly whether you need a repair or a replacement.
Written Estimate
A clear, itemized estimate with your material and color options. The price holds unless we uncover hidden damage under the old roof.
Scheduling & Access
We set a date, order materials, and agree where the dumpster and the materials truck go. On an acreage lot that is worth settling in advance rather than on the morning.
Tear-Off & Install
Old roof off, decking checked and replaced where it is soft, new system on. Most homes finish in one to two days; a large cut-up roof can take longer, and we tell you which one you are before we start.
Cleanup & Walkthrough
We magnet-sweep the drive and the yard for nails, which matters more when there are acres of it and animals on the property. Then we walk the job with you and register your warranties.

A Newer Build Or An Older Place?
McLendon-Chisholm has two quite different sets of housing stock, and they fail in different ways. Knowing which one you are in tells us where to look first.
If the house went up in the boom…
- The original roof is probably somewhere between ten and twenty years old now, which is when builder-grade shingles start giving up in this heat.
- We look hard at the details first: pipe boots, the flashing at walls and chimneys, and the valleys. Volume building means details get rushed.
- Ventilation is worth checking. It is a common shortcut, and a roof that cannot breathe ages faster than one that can.
- The roof is often large and complex, so damage in one area is frequently still a repair rather than a replacement.
If you are on an older property…
- There may be more than one roof up there already, and layers change what a tear-off involves.
- Decking is the question. Years of small leaks nobody chased leave soft spots, and covering those wastes the new roof.
- Outbuildings, barns and covered porches often have low-slope sections where shingles were never the right answer.
- Repairs stacking up on a roof at the end of its rated life is the point where replacement is the cheaper number.
Either way, the free inspection settles it. If a targeted repair will hold, we will tell you that, and we will not try to talk you into a roof you do not need.
Want somebody to look before the next storm?
Free inspection, zero pressure, and an honest answer either way. McLendon-Chisholm is a short drive for us.
We Navigate The Claim Process With You
Hail is the number one reason Rockwall County homeowners call a roofer, and on a large roof there is a great deal of surface for it to land on. Here is what we do, and just as importantly, what we do not do. We are roofers, not adjusters and not attorneys. We talk about the scope of work on your roof, never about your policy.
- A free inspection, documented. We photograph the bruising, the wind lift, and the flashing, and we pin down the date of loss while it is still fresh.
- Make us your contractor of record. That means we are the point of contact with your adjuster instead of you sorting it out on your own, and we meet them on the roof.
- We talk scope of work, not policy. We bring up code and the manufacturer’s instructions to make the case for the correct repair, and we file a supplement when the scope leaves something out.
- Straight expectations. If there is not enough damage to stand behind a claim, we will tell you that.
What We Bring To The Adjuster Meeting
Documentation, not opinions.

What Bacon Roofing Customers Say
John Bacon from Bacon Roofing was such a pleasure to work with. Very professional and no pressure. The crew was on time and did a beautiful job. Bacon Roofing does not cut any corners in installing a new roof.
These guys are top notch. In all our years of dealing with various contractors, I was expecting yet another terrible experience, especially with a huge price tag for a new roof. That was not the case with Bacon Roofing.
Our house was hit by a strong hail storm and I needed a new roof. I did not even hesitate to think of anyone else but John Bacon and his company to put my roof on my home.
McLendon-Chisholm Roofing FAQs
Do you actually cover McLendon-Chisholm, or is it an add-on?
We cover it properly. The town sits about six miles southeast of Rockwall, which is the market we have worked since 1995, so it is a short drive rather than an outlier on the edge of a service map.
My house is only about fifteen years old. Surely the roof is fine?
Not necessarily, and this is the most common assumption we correct out here. Fifteen years is right about when builder-grade shingles start giving up in Texas heat, and volume building means the details underneath, pipe boots, flashing and valleys, often get rushed. One of the worst leaks we ever traced was on an eight-year-old house where a vent flashing had been cut two inches short.
We are on an acre. Does that change the job?
It changes the logistics more than the roofing. We agree in advance where the dumpster and materials truck go, how to get in past gates and around septic fields and fencing, and we magnet-sweep the drive and yard thoroughly afterwards, which matters more when there is a lot of it and there are animals on the property.
The roof is big and complicated. Is that a problem?
It is normal for us. Estate plans out here run three to six thousand square feet with dormers, several gables and long valleys, and every one of those transitions is somewhere a roof can fail. It means more to inspect and more that has to be detailed correctly, not a job we shy away from. It can add time to a replacement, and we tell you that before we start.
How do I know if we got hail damage?
You probably cannot tell from the ground, and that is the point. Hail does not punch holes, it bruises the mat under the shingle and strips the granules that protect it. A roof can look fine from the driveway for two years after the storm that finished it. The tells you can see are granules collecting where the downspouts drain and dents in the soft metals, gutters, vent caps and the AC condenser fins.
Do you help with insurance claims?
We help you navigate the process. Make us your contractor of record and we become the point of contact with your adjuster, meet them on the roof, and document the damage with dated photos. We discuss the scope of work and what code and the manufacturer’s instructions require. We are roofers, not adjusters or attorneys, so we do not advise on your policy.
Are inspections really free?
Yes, and there is no obligation attached. Free inspections, zero pressure is how we work rather than a promotion. Plenty of our inspections end with us telling a homeowner their roof has years left in it and driving away.
What other areas do you serve nearby?
Rockwall, Heath, Royse City, Forney, Rowlett, Wylie, Sunnyvale, Garland, Mesquite, Sachse and Anna, plus the surrounding communities within about an hour of Rockwall.
